It’s the penultimate episode of The Golden Mile, so how is the story going to come to a close?

With the Wood Royal Commission wrapped up, the old barons of the drug trade are jailed and the corrupt cops given their marching orders, there is a major power vacuum on the streets of Kings Cross.

Fresh out of jail and determined not to go back, Danny "DK" Karam recruits a crew of young western suburbs punks to distance himself from criminal activity while still reaping the profits.

Brainwashed by Danny's glorified stories of war, lieutenant Doc Kanaan goes over the top. When DK reprimands him, Doc feels deep fury and resentment...

Meanwhile, Detective Sergeant Joe Dooley pushes for action and Strike Force Lancer is formed to fight this new wave of criminal activity. But it's hard going, with the police force depleted of many of its best investigators as a result of the royal commission.
