Allison Dine's fragile state is further shaken during a quick visit to the UK. There she encounters Terry’s replacement partner, the feisty Karen Soich, and is unnerved by the note of finality in Terry's voice as he says good-bye. 

For Bob Trimbole, the trip to the UK becomes a disturbing experience when he receives a directive from Terry to have Allison killed. 

Terry's paranoia has increased along with his cocaine use and the disappearance of 'Mr Asia', Marty Johnston, leads him to believe that no one is safe.

Back in Australia, the Joint Taskforce meets with Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser to tackle the problem of corruption in the Narcotics Agency. 

This very corruption saves Allison's skin when, following her arrest, information trickles back to Trimbole that she has kept her mouth shut.

Trimbole calls off the hit and Terry, in love with Karen Soich, also rethinks his plans for Allison.

It seems everything is rosy… but the discovery of a body in a freezing loch in Northern England ensures they won't stay rosy for long.
