X Factor hopeful Marcus Collins wowed the judges on Sunday night during his audition. The 23-year old from Liverpool got a standing ovation and praise from the judges after performing Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered.
Several of Marcus’ hairdressing clients came along to his audition to support him, and he was ecstatic to have received such positive comments from judges Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos. Speaking backstage after his performance he said:
“I cannot believe the response I just got, I’m really proud and so pleased. My friends and family have been coming with me to gigs and auditions for years and years and years and they’ve always said that I should go for The X Factor.
“I never really felt like it was right and this year I was straight in there.”
Marcus’ performance left the crowd wanting more and the judges were impressed with his vocal ability. Tulisa told him:
““Marcus, do you know what that just felt like for me? I didn’t even feel like you were auditioning, I felt like I had come to see you perform, that’s how it felt, you were so comfortable up there, you literally owned the stage, loved it!”
Gary was equally impressed and told the hairdresser: “I feel for the first time we have actually heard someone who sang in the pocket of a song, someone who doesn’t just sing on the beat but actually finds their own groove within the song. I really enjoyed that audition, well done, congratulations.”
With four yes votes, Marcus sailed straight through to Boot Camp.
