Hello Nightshifters,
Well here we are in September!! Has anyone seen the summer months? I am sure we had a glimpse of them but they seem to have vanished very very quickly. I can't actually believe that the year has flown by so fast.
I start Panto rehearsals in 8 weeks time, which means it won't be long before you know what! Christmas. My mum & my aunties used to do that "you know who, you know what" chat when I was younger and it would drive me absolutely crazy - "No I don't know what, just tell me" and the reply was always the same "No we can't because you might go you know where and tell you know who" - aarrghh! Interesting enough the older I have become I actually understand it.
I was in the supermarket the other day and decided that I would get my eyes tested, I last got them tested in 1997 and was told I had perfect eye sight, I was a little bit worried about going in as I thought they might have found something, I don't want to wear glasses (nothing wrong with them - I just don’t want them) and putting in contact lenses makes me feel a wee bit squeemish. My mum has glasses - about forty pairs, a pair for reading, a pair for watching telly, another pair for reading the telly bit out the paper that tells you what’s coming on the telly!! When I went into the opticians she asked me if my eyes had ever been checked and I said "No they've always been brown" She didn't see that coming!
I had a mammoth shift last week at STV - I was lucky enough to be asked to answer the phones at the STV Appeal which was fantastic, there I was sitting next to Miss Scotland, Hugh & Cry & Kirsty Wark - A wee woman on the phone said "Is that Kirsty Wark I can hear in the background?" I said “Yes it sure is, Kirsty is taking calls tonight as well”, the wee woman said "Aw I wish I had got her" Nothing like keeping you grounded eh? The Appeal night was absolutely fantastic once again; we raised over 1.9 million pounds!!
As you know I like my live entertainment - I was at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow last night to see "Sister Act - The Musical" It was absolutely brilliant, we had such a good time and so did the rest of the audience. There were people dressed up as nuns with full false eyelashes and shocking red lipstick, the women that dressed up were just as bad. The audience was full of saints and sinners but we all had a good time. The show starred Denise Black who played Denise Osbourne in Coronation Street and the legend that is Michael Starke - Brookside's Sinbad. Remember Brookie? The two of them were the "Celebs" in the show but they were supported by a fabulous ensemble cast, it's such a feel good show. In actual fact yesterday was the 108th anniversary since the first performance at the theatre & they opened up a new cocktail bar for the after show party. I was going to ask Sinbad for a photo but decided to just get the one attached to this blog instead - I think I may have found my calling - I just hope my Habbits don't end up dirty!!
Until next time.....
