Only one story to share this time around and it’s a memory of the most wonderful day spent Sunday 13th on the beautiful Northern Belle Train run by Orient Express.com across the United Kingdom.
It was a truly joyous yet sentimental journey taken along with a couple of close family members in memory of my dear late Aunty May who would have been 89 this past weekend and her wee sister (my dear departed Mum Ellen) who passed away two years ago come June 30th. The luxurious Orient-Express style journey was something they both spoke of many times over the years but for a number of reasons just never got around to! I guess they were just too busy being perfectly devoted Mothers/Grandmother’s through the years and how lucky we were to have them.
Everything about the Northern Belle Experience was quite simply perfect. Sumptuous opulent surroundings, beautiful food (5 course luncheon with Champagne/Wine) served by attentive staff throughout our almost six hour return journey from Glasgow Central to Dundee via the breath-taking Forth Rail Bridge. Of course it’s a little expensive but it’s not something you’re going to do everyday although if I had the disposable income I most certainly would. One of the lovely things about the trip for me was the effort and detail that almost everyone on-board had taken to get into character for the occasion! Both women and men alike in their finest togs, a mixture of fine suits and fine furs, in fact I even saw one man who’d gone to the trouble of wearing a particularly tasty pair of nineteen thirties style Spats!!! (I wonder - who could that be?) Very Cool Indeed!!!
I will definitely make this trip again sometime in the future, (Hey boss can I please have an extra shift!!!) Ha! Take a look at the little picture attached and take a trip back in time...........................Spoil yourselves – no one else will.
Catch – up soon on the irresistible STV Nightshift
Cheers
Jim
