The Hour

 And yet despite the sunshine, the green bank of grass and the white swan on the slow river there was something unshakably sinister about those words.

Sinister perhaps because despite the enamel white hair, giggling gait and the camera crew in tow, Vicky Lee has the ability to surprise her Fashion Hijacks with starling precision; an uncanny omnipresence that she uses to corner her victims.

In the small town of Broxburn, West Lothian, 52-year-old Shell had been nominated by her lovely daughter, to undergo a complete makeover courtesy of the five thirty show. And once more Vicky caught her prey unprepared; waiting with a smile and a handshake.

There was, however, one hitch in the hijack as Shell’s husband let slip that a secret party had been arranged for her return.  Undaunted, Vicky set her plan in motion whilst blushing John went about redeeming himself, making sandwich after sandwich, mini sausage roll after mini sausage roll.

Employing the help of willowy fashion stylist Chris the pair ploughed into the shops, Shell in tow, to find a more colourful wardrobe.

“She just wears black all the time” explained daughter Jemma.  “It’s black, black and black, she never wears colours.”

After finding the perfect outfit, having her hair tended to and getting a new lick of smouldering eyeshade the scene was set for her post makeover party, complete with family and friends.

And once it was all over, was it a success for Vicky Lee and the Fashion Hijack team?  Well judging by how stunning Shell looked, how happy everyone gathered looked and by just how many sandwiches were eaten; then the whole day was a triumph.

With another job well done all that remained was for Vicky to set off into the sunset in search of fresh quarry; tireless in her pursuit of fashion.
