Ever since denim was invented people have been flocking towards it, but picking the right jeans can be a total nightmare for women, and getting a pair that fit right can make the difference between looking fabulous or looking a fright.
Stylist Tori MacKenzie showed The Hour three denim looks to help you make the right choice for summer. First up wearing the casual and bohemian 70s inspired look was Heather.
She had on a crochet top, £8 from Primark; a River Island vest top for £24.99; high waisted flare jeans, £29.50 from Marks & Spencer; and high heels from Zara for £59.99. Tori said:
“High waisted flares are really, really flattering on the tummy and will flatten you down, and they also flatter your leg length. This is definitely the fashion fix for the summer.”
Next up was Mhairi wearing a £19 vest top from Cos; harem jeans for £16 from George at Asda; and £12.99 sandals from River Island. Tori explained:
“These are boyfriend slouchy jeans that you can throw on and just laze about in. You don’t have to worry about getting the right shape because you can tie them in.”
Lastly was Rebecca modelling a slouch tee shirt, £29.99 from Zara; cropped jeans for £12 from F&F at Tesco; and New Look heels for £19.99.
“Cropped indigo jeans are huge every summer,” Tori said. “They are really nice, really easy to wear and they stretch, which gives them that comfort fit as well.”
On the mannequins there was a New Look denim dress for £28.99; pink jeans for £35.99 and an American apparel top for £15, both from Zara; and a vintage skirt for £20 from Ruby Tuesdays. Tori said:
“Block colour is becoming more popular. You can also mix denims if you’re careful, but never wear ripped jeans. They’re not fashionable and never will be.”
