The Hour

The Hour has wrapped up for the year, and following nearly 150 successful episodes of the daily magazine show, hosts Stephen Jardine and Michelle McManus take a look back at the best of the programme, from the last few months.

Kicking off on May 26 this year, the programme began with regular host Stephen Jardine accompanied by a number of guest hostesses, including Lulu, Dawn Steele, Dorothy Paul and Carol Smillie, before regular hostess, singer and former radio presenter, Michelle, was appointed to the full-time role.

And what an amazing few months The Hour has had, with a whole host of fantastic celebrity guests, bands and everyday people taking their place on the legendary sofa each weeknight.

Looking back over the last few months, one of Michelle’s favourite memories is the time Hollywood actress and musician Juliette Lewis appeared on the show. The true legend was a delight to interview – and she was rewarded with a Scottish goodie bag, complete with vegetarian haggis and shortbread!

Of course with the good comes the bad, and Michelle’s worst memory was when she had to attempt to make pizza dough, during her first week on The Hour. Needless to say, talented Michelle found out that there’s some tasks you just can’t be good at!

Stephen’s top interview was with music star Chrissie Hynde, the frontwoman of The Pretenders. Chrissie was only meant to be stopping by The Hour for an interview, but the game performer did an impromptu performance of her huge hit Don’t Get Me Wrong after Stephen said he’d love to hear it.

And one of the host’s scariest, but also most enjoyable, moments on the show, was when a baby Tyrannosaurus Rex from the exciting arena spectacular, Walking with Dinosaurs, dropped by in June. The normally plucky presenter couldn't hide his nerves as he clambered over the sofa to hide!
