Scottish rockers The Dykeenies are releasing their new single Sounds of the City on Monday, April 27.

The Cumbernauld band wrote the title track immediately after the release of their first album, which was met with critical acclaim.

“Sounds of the City was one of the first songs we wrote after the first album. We did it acoustically and now we have put an orchestra to it,” said drummer John Kerr.

It has been a busy few months for the band who have just recently finished touring which was preceded by a long spell in the studio writing and recording songs for the latest album.

“Before we went on tour we were in the studio for the past six months trying to get the material together for the album and since we’ve came back from the tour we have locked ourselves away again,” explained guitarist Steven Ramsey.

The band are planning to take advantage of the spring release date to promote their new album across the summer festival circuit.

“We’re going to be doing festivals…and just generally going on tour again. Soaking it up like bread and gravy,” said lead singer Brian Fire.
