Errol Brown, leading man of disco legends Hot Chocolate, has told how performing on his group’s farewell tour has reduced him to tears.

The Sexy Thing singer is calling it a day after their current UK tour following 40 years in the music business.

“The first show was last night in north Wales,” he said. “When you say ‘it’s time to say goodbye,’ it did get some tears flowing I tell you.”

Jamaican-born Brown formed Hot Chocolate in 1969, scoring a number of chart hits throughout the 70s and 80s. They are best-known for “You Sexy Thing” which charted in the top ten in three different decades and was featured memorably in The Full Monty movie.

But the 60-year-old now feels he’s had enough and is packing it in to retire in luxury retreat in the Bahamas.

“I just think this is 40 years I’ve been doing this…it’s just time for me to go and relax to be honest. People don’t understand how much pressure it is to go out on the road and perform live having done it for such a long time.

“I really love it but it’s getting harder and harder for me to come out, go to hotels and travel. I’m kinda’ just saying to everyone, “thank you for all your support.’”

However one thing that definitely won’t be making a glorious return for the tour is the infamous spandex trousers he wore in the video for You Sexy Thing.

“I had to give them up. Once I got married they were not allowed,” explained Brown.
