With the show now in it’s tenth series, BBC3' Real Hustle recently moved filming up North to Glasgow and hired two new hustlers to refresh the original format.
Original members Paul Wilson, Jessica Clements and Alex Cordan are now joined by newbies Polly Parsons and Jazz Lintott as they scam bewildering members of the public.
Speaking with Michelle McManus and Tam Cowan on STV's The Hour, Paul said about the tenth series: “I do love every minute of it, it’s been going for so long, we just keep finding new ways of stealing and it doesn’t matter how long the shows been on, the more research we do we keep finding new ways of taking stuff from people.”
Many of the scenes for the show were filmed on location in Glasgow, as Paul explains: “Well we started off in London, then about half way through we moved up to Glasgow and we’ve been filming here ever since.”
Talking about the differences between filming in the Scottish city and the English capital, Paul joked that he finds Glasgow friendly: “It’s been slightly different to film up here rather than London, it’s a huge city, kind of faceless, if you were to fall down in the street - they sort of wait until somebody comes to help.”
New girl Polly was excited about joining the show and had to audition to land the part in the first place.
Polly said: “I was always a fan of the Real Hustle and I watched every series and everything. When I knew they were looking for a new girl, I just got the casting and got it really which is good.”
“Now it’s good fun because it’s five of us, we feel like a team.”
Catch the new series of The Real Hustle: New Recruits continues on BBC3 on Monday at 8.30pm.
