The Hour is off air for the summer, and over the coming weeks the show’s website will be featuring lots of exclusive features and performances. Today’s exclusive is a chat with musician and actress Heather Peace, who answered viewer’s questions while getting comfy on The Hour sofa.
Heather stars in BBC TV show Lip Service, a ground breaking drama about lesbians which appeals to people of all sexual orientations. She is incredibly proud to be part of the show and would have been gutted if she hadn’t got the job. She said:
“The thing about Lip Service is that it’s one that my straight friends will watch as well because it’s just a drama about people, about relationships, about friendships and about lies and betrayal.
“It’s not saying this is gay people getting married, this is gay people having children, it’s just about things that appeal to everybody and I think that’s why it’s so groundbreaking. I would have been gutted if I hadn’t got the job.”
Filming for the second series of Lip Service has recently finished, and Heather admitted that she enjoyed filming the first series more than the second. She explained:
“You’ll understand why when you see the second series. I can’t say any more than that but I had a lot of fun on the first one. The second one maybe not so much, but certainly going back the second time and seeing all the girls who had become my friends was great. I’m definitely ready to do a third series.”
The actress has previously starred in TV shows London’s Burning and Ultimate Force, and she started her acting career in theatre. She would love to star in Henrik Ibson’s play ‘Hedda Garbler’. She explained:
“I saw Geraldine James do it at the Royal Exchange in Manchester and she was awesome. I think round about my age now I should be able to do it.”
Heather will be performing in Edinburgh on August 13 with her new band, where she will be playing some of her new songs. She said:
“I have my band completed which is really exciting, so it will be the first time to see the full band and the first time to hear exactly what is going to go on the album, which will be released next spring. It’s really exciting times.”
Lip Service will be back on our screens later this year or early in the spring. Check The Hour website on Monday for a performance and photo gallery of Heather’s new track ‘Fight For’.
