Fresh from performing at the Glastonbury festival last month, The Pierces are set to descend on Balado this weekend when they play a 45-minute set at Scotland’s biggest music festival T in the Park.
Hailing from Alabama, The Pierces music is cool and modern and has a bit of a rock edge to it, leading to the pair being labelled as Fleetwood Mac’s younger, cooler sisters.
The Pierce sisters, named Allison and Catherine, had almost given up on music when they got a phone call from Coldplay’s bassist Guy Berryman. They explained:
“Guy had heard our old music years ago and he wanted to work with us, so he called us out of the blue the day after we had decided to split up.
We wanted [our new album] to sound classic but still have a fresh, modern feel.”
Guy went on to produce The Pierces new album ‘You and I’, which reached the top five in the UK album charts upon its release last month.
The sisters describe their sound as classic but with a fresh, modern twist.
The girls will be playing at T in the Park on Saturday July 9 at the Red Bull Tent, and their new single ‘It Will Not Be Forgotten’ will be released on August 8.
The ‘You and I’ album is available to buy or download now. For more information on The Pierces see the official website.
