It’s been three years since the MacDonald Bros first came to public attention on the talent show The X Factor.
Since that first appearance, they’ve gone on to enjoy considerable success in the music industry with three of their albums making it in the top ten in the charts, and touring with Westlife just some of their achievements.
The duo are currently touring around Scotland with a special Christmas concert, The X-Mas Show. They also recently appeared at the Radio Clyde Cash for Kids lunch in Glasgow, which saw them perform their single for the charity, Three Cheers for Christmas with pupils from Ravenswood Primary, who had won a competition run by Bauer Media’s AM network.
The single is being released for download on December 13, and the guys are hopeful that they will be able to raise a large sum of money for the charity from the sales.
Craig explained a bit more about the competition for the children to be involved in the single. He said: “It was run through the radio stations in Scotland, it was basically to get the kids involved. Christmas is for us is kind of about kids and this year all the proceeds are going to cash for kids. So we would just urge everybody to really get behind us – we’re trying to get it in the top ten in Scotland for Christmas time which is a big thing to do…”
He added: “We are honoured to be included in doing this, we never thought in a million years that we would be competing for this in the charts at Christmas time, but we’ll see. The Scottish charts is a big thing definitely up here, so we’ll see what happens.”
No doubt their fans will get behind them – and that support is of huge importance to them. The boys, who are from Ayr originally, credit much of their success to the support they’ve received from their Scottish fans, who have loyally supported the boys throughout their career so far.
Brian said: “I think the Scottish people have really got behind us and it’s thanks to them they’ve kept us going over these past few years, it’s fantastic.”
