Andy Murray gets Lorraine Kelly’s heart racing

TV presenter Lorraine Kelly says that Andy Murray’s nervy performance in his opening match at Wimbledon left her heart racing.

Kelly is a huge fan of the Scottish starlet and revealed that the 22-year-old’s match against American Robert Kendrick had her biting her nails as he stuttered over the finish line.

The bubbly GMTV presenter told STV’s The Hour: “He made it a wee bit hard for himself yesterday, I was chewing my fingernails but he got their in the end. I think it’s going to be a rollercoaster with him, it really is.”

Forty-nine-year-old Kelly was on the show to talk about Made in Scotland, a new series looking at some of the world-changing inventions to come from the country.

And true to form, Kelly just couldn’t resist bigging up her home town.

“It’s all really about Dundee as well because Dundee is the most inventive city in Scotland,” said Kelly.

While we’re more used to seeing her on screens down south, Kelly has been gaining recognition closer to home after being made an army inspector to mark the Queen’s birthday earlier this month.

A proud Kelly was delighted to be appointed to the role of Honorary Colonel of the Black Watch battalion's Army Cadet Force.

“It’s such an honour, an absolute honour. I had to take the Queen’s salute at Stirling Castle, a 21 gun salute and I was petrified,” added Kelly. “My legs were literally shaking together, I’ve never been that nervous since the first time I did TV.”
