The four Akita pups found abandoned at a landfill site in North Lanarkshire have been re-homed by the SSPCA and one in particular is living in the lap of luxury.
Zara is one of the abandoned pups who were born on the waste site, but after the publicity of the campaign to find the pups new homes, the SSPCA were inundated with calls from potential takers.
Dundee woman Joyce Fitzgerald was eventually chosen. Joyce contacted the charity after reading the pups’ story in the newspaper.
“I read the story and thought that it was really awful,” she said.
Following a personal interview and home inspection it was agreed she would take Zara.
The home inspection and interview are an important part of the SSPCA’s re-homing programme. They ensure the candidate has enough space and garden to provide a healthy lifestyle for the animal while also making sure the person understands the commitment needed to take care of it.
For Zara, Joyce’s large house and even bigger garden is the perfect place for any pup.
