Give a Dog a Home: Cavalier Ruby and Lhasa Apso Daisy

The Hour’s mission to re-home loving dogs continued yesterday as Ena and Frank Conway of Second Chance Kennels brought Ruby and Daisy onto the show. Both dogs were raised on a puppy farm that was shut down due to horrendous living conditions, so they really need someone to give them the home they deserve.

Ruby is a one-year-old brown cavalier who has already given birth to six puppies. Daisy meanwhile is a fifteen-month-old Lhasa Apso, whose fur was so badly matted when she was brought to the kennels that it had to be shaved off.

Ena said: “[They’ve] never lived in a house so they won’t be housetrained but they don’t take long. They’re just so grateful for the love and affection that people give them.”

Although both dogs are over a year old they will need to be treated like puppies for the first few months. That means strict training, but also plenty of praise and love.

Both dogs are also excellent with children, but Ena and Frank wouldn’t advise taking them into a household where there are children under five. To make sure they get the best possible care the couple will also need to do full checks on anyone wanting to adopt Ruby and Daisy.

If you think you could provide an ideal home for Ruby or Daisy, contact Second Chance Kennels through their website. You’d be barking mad not to.
