The Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home is an independent Scottish charity that is passionate about animals. The charity takes in many stray dogs and cats and tries to find adequate homes for the animals whose owners no longer want them or are unable to continue looking after them.
Angus is a four-year-old cross terrier whose elderly owners handed him in to the Home as they felt they were no longer young enough to be able to look after him properly. He is a loving and affectionate dog and is looking for a new family to love him and take care of him. Kennel hand Steph Grant told The Hour:
“Angus is a lovely dog. He came to us at the beginning of the year originally as a stray dog wandering the street. We had him for a few weeks, we got him neutered and we re-homed him to a lovely couple.
“They’ve done brilliantly with him and got him all up to date with his vet vaccinations. They’ve put a great deal of time into his training and he’s just a brilliant wee character, but unfortunately they’ve come to the decision that they may be a wee bit too old to be caring for him now. He’s too energetic for them and they feel that someone else can give him a better quality of life.”
Angus is very well house trained and gets on well with people. He’s never lived with children but he enjoyed playing with his previous owner’s grandkids when they came to visit, and he gets on well with other dogs but is a bit wary of larger breeds.
The loveable terrier would make an ideal pet for a younger couple who work part-time or split shifts and who have the time to exercise with Angus and take him out a few times every day for walks.
It would also be easier for Angus to be re-homed with slightly older children than with younger ones to give him the time and space that he needs to properly settle in to a new home. Steph explained:
“It will take him a few weeks to settle because right now he’s a wee bit confused wondering what’s going on. He’s been in a family environment and has went back into kennels, but he’s such a loving dog and has got so much love to give.”
The Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home has a high number of dogs looking for new homes at the moment, so even if you don’t think Angus is the right dog for you, there might be the perfect pooch waiting for you at the Home.
