Carol Smillie has signed up to be the new face of Ortak for the Scottish jewellery brand’s autumn/winter campaign.
TV and stage star Carol – a former model who shot to fame after fronting games show Wheel of Fortune, followed by a number of other TV hits including Changing Rooms and Postcode Challenge – has teamed up with her daughter, aspiring model Christie Knight, for the striking shots.
The images of Carol and Christie - taken at Glasgow’s Sloans Bar and Restaurant - have new romantic theme with a military twist, to tie in with the new season’s collections, and will be seen in shop windows across the UK, as well as in the company’s catalogue.
Ortak was founded in Orkney in 1967 and has grown to become one of the UK’s leading designers and manufacturers of both gold and silver jewellery, with 15 stores dotted across Scotland as well as Newcastle and Sheffield.
And Carol said that she is delighted to be working with Ortak because of its strong Scottish background. She said: “I love the fact that Ortak is steeped in rich Scottish heritage and being proud of my roots, I jumped at the chance to be associated with the brand.
“The jewellery is simply beautiful and I enjoyed every minute of the shoot, especially the chance to work alongside my daughter. It’s lovely to look at the images and remember the fun we had on set with the Ortak team.”
Christie added: “I’ve not been modelling for long so this was a really exciting job for me to be a part of. The new collection is gorgeous and we’re both really pleased with the results.”
Carol and Christie follow former celebrities including Myleene Klass, Suzanne Shaw, Amanda Lamb and Kate Ford, who have all also modelled for Ortak.
