Bruce Devlin aka Scrooge goes on a Christmas rant!

14 December 2009, 13:06

Peace on earth and goodwill to all men…yes it’s that time again, but not everyone is a fan of the festive season – and Bruce Devlin is one of them!

The comedian is used to making people laugh, but at Christmas he turns into a bit of a mean-spirited character.

I don’t want to see the Wizard of Oz, or The Great Escape, or any of those festive efforts set in Manhattan, minging with mince pies and other such festive sludge,” Bruce, aka Scrooge, said.

Bruce Devlin aka Scrooge goes on a Christmas rant!

Of course it’s not just festive films that get on Devlin’s nerves: “If you are lucky enough to be invited to any Christmas parties, show some restraint you weak-willed guzzlers!,” he ranted.

“Then there’s the panic over food. We’re not a country prone to famine. Just because the shops shut on Christmas Eve and don’t open again until Boxing Day, there’s no need to stock up on food that will still be in the fridge until Valentine’s Day!”

He continued: “There’s no fun in the Christmas number one, you just know it’s going to be The X Factor!”

But after a visit from the Christmas Ghost also known as Michelle McManus, grumpy Devlin saw the errors of his way and suddenly changed his mind. “Maybe I was wrong all along. Oh Merry Christmas everyone, cheers!”

Bruce Devlin’s daily comedy shows at the Edinburgh Festival were streamed live on stv.tv. If you fancy watching them, you can do so
