Anita Manning is The Hour’s antiques expert, and she’s on hand to help viewers identify any hidden treasures they might possess.
Anita is a regular on the antiques scene, and owns the Great Western Auction House on Dumbarton Road in Glasgow. A passionate and enthusiastic auctioneer, Anita has been in the business for over 20 years.
Her main interest lies with Scottish items from jewellery to furniture, but Anita loves to see all sorts of weird and wonderful items.
Anyone who thinks they might have an item of value should get in touch. It’s important to include photographs of items, including front and back shots, to let Anita see as much detail as possible. The rear or underside often includes further information too, such as signature marks or hallmarks (which should always be photographed for Anita to see).
But even if you’re not sure if your item is worth anything, don’t be put off – still get in touch to find out. One person's trash can be another person's treasure!
For example, often glasswork items don’t have any such markings – but they can still be appealing and valuable to collectors.
