Baby gadgets: Great gizmos for the modern mum

Yesterday the Baby Diaries came to an end when Laurene finally gave birth to her beautiful baby boy, Cameron. For her and her partner Graham the hard work is only just beginning, but DJ Dingo joined The Hour to reveal some of the best gadgets that can help them on their way.

The 8oz bottle with warmer from Yoomi costs £23.50 and warms milk to the breast’s natural temperature at the touch of a button. You can take in anywhere and use it just to feed your baby or help the transition from breast to bottle.

The Balido Nasal Aspirator from JoJo Maman Bébé costs £50 and replaces the tissue as a gentle way to clear a baby’s nose. With two speeds and two nozzles depending on the baby’s age, this little gizmo is easy to clean and ideal for travelling.

Kiddycare.com’s £19.99 Pipila is the ideal gadget to sterilise your baby’s dummy. Essentially this lamp kills up to 99.9 per cent of germs without transforming the shape of the teat or leaving strange tastes.

For a more unconventional dummy, the Billy Bob Dummy costs just £6 from Billy Bob Teeth and will give your friends a cheap laugh.

The Pourty potty from Pourty.com costs just £9.99 and is ideal for your baby’s first toilet. Because it has a spout at the back it is easy to pour out and the handle at the front makes cleaning easier.

The Hands Free Brolly from HandsFreeBrolly.co.uk is a clever little umbrella that you can attach to your pram or buggy to keep you dry while you push your pram against that horrible Scottish rain. At £18.49, it’s also cheap enough to be used as a regular brolly.

Also for the pram, the Snooze Shade is a blackout blind that will help your baby sleep as you wheel them around. It costs just £19.99 from Snoozeshade.com.

For extra storage space on your buggy, the Hamster Buggy Bags act like panniers on a bicycle. By distributing the weight across the front of the buggy you can rest assured that it won’t tip over backward, and a pack of two costs just £29.99 from Hamsterbags.co.uk.

Finally, Ewan the Dream Sheep from Easidream also costs £29.99 and helps restless babies drift off to sleep. Just place him next to your baby and it plays real heartbeat and womb sound combinations to mimic the experience of being in the womb.
