Pregnancy is an exciting time for any couple as they prepare to welcome a new life into the world. Laurene Mathers and Graham Kerr recorded baby diaries throughout Laurene’s pregnancy as the pair attended antenatal classes and as Laurene had a baby shower.

Laurene gave birth to baby Cameron Kerr-Shaw on June 19 and gave Graham the best Father’s Day gift he could have asked for. The happy couple spoke to The Hour about Laurene’s pregnancy and how it feels to be parents. Laurene said:

“I had a great pregnancy and had no problems throughout it so I really enjoyed being pregnant. The labour was tiresome, it was about 16 hours in total.

“Getting into the sleep pattern is difficult but he’s feeding every four hours just now which is good. By the time we feed him and change him and put him back down again, it’s up, feeding and changing again, but once we get used to it he’ll get used to it. It’s just getting into a routine really.”

Graham and Laurene were given advice on what to expect when Cameron arrived but they both admit that nothing could have prepared them for his arrival. Graham said:

“Your mums give you old advice but it’s changing all the time, you don’t get prepared at all. After two weeks it’s like he’s always been there. You forget about everything you’ve done before, it becomes such a huge part of life.”

Laurene added: “It’s amazing the love you have for something that’s just new and the worry you have as well. I still check his breathing and things like that, but we’ve got great support around us, we really have.”
