Celebs lead the charge in odd ways to commemorate your pregnancy

Myleene Klass, Mariah Carey and Demi Moore have all hit headlines in the past for the unusual ways they have chosen to commemorate their pregnancies, but now The Hour’s  very own pregnant couple, Graham and Laurene, have decided to give some of them a go.

From a cast of your pregnant belly to a canvas print of your unborn child, each is a unique souvenir of this exciting time in your life and can always be brought out later to embarrass your child when they bring home their first boyfriend or girlfriend.

In March this year, a heavily pregant Myleene Klass hit headlines when she Tweeted a picture of herself wearing a belly cast. Now this is an option available to all expectant couples thanks to John Lewis’ Pearhead Belly Art Casting Kit. At just £24.95, this kit will leave the couple with a priceless memento of this time in their lives and is remarkably easy to use.

t didn’t take Graham long to cover Laurene’s body and in just ten minutes it began to peel off. The cast can then be left to dry over a few days before you are left with a work of art to hang on your wall.

The couple also had a canvas print made up for them, using the image they were given following Laurene’s 4D scan. This was sent to MumStuff.co.uk and returned as a print, with prices starting from £84.95. To contact them you can visit their website or call them on 0845 009 0607.

For pictures of the pregnant couple, Beth Hodge Maternity Photography specialise in “Me & My Bump” sessions. In 20 minutes Beth will make you look glamorous and then guide you a through a photoshoot.

In their case, a topless Graham posed behind Laurene with his arms wrapped round her and the baby, reminiscent of Demi Moore’s famous Vanity Fair cover.

The session costs just £30 and includes two 6” x 4” mounted portraits, as well as a complimentary 30 minute Newborn Baby session after the birth.

Perhaps one of the strangest options out there is Mariah Carey’s infamous bump painting. Lorna Strachan of Elite Face Painting took care of this for Laurene, painting a psychedelic nature scene on her tummy which can then be captured forever as a photograph.

“It was strange,” said Laurene. “I’d never heard of it before [but] it was really, really good.”

Even once the baby is born there are creative ways to commemorate the occasion.  At Shpangle.co.uk you can get a Silver Hair Keepsake Ring or an engraved Lock of Hair Pendant. Or at Creativecasting.co.uk you can have a silver or bronze cast of your baby’s foot made.
