Devlin’s diets: day two of the comedian’s liver detox test

Comedian Bruce Devlin has been put to the test by The Hour in a bid to boost his health. Yesterday he embarked on the first of three special diets, a liver detox plan.

For nine days he is banned from consuming wheat, milk, booze, bad fats and caffeine and will instead be eating 'good' foods such as soya milk, gluten free pasta and linseeds.

Bruce was up bright and early this morning and exercising in the fresh air: “I’ve had my refreshing hot water and lemon to begin with and will be going to the gym later but I thought I’d come out and do some gentle exercise to help rid my body of the toxins,” he said. “I really feel by exercising in this alpine sunlight that my liver is going into overdrive.

“I’m up to four glasses of water, and my bladder feels like a small handbag. It’s tiny!”

The comedian headed off to the fishmonger’s to get a couple of nice bits of oily fish, and was tortured by the selection of cheeses on display. Miserably, he sighed:

“Look at all this cheese! And it’s on sale, very cruel. I think I’m going to treat myself to a porridge snack and have the first of my detox baths. Lovely!”

Keep checking back over the next few days to find out how the comedian is getting on and what other diets The Hour have in store for him!

Bruce is followingThe Holford 9 Day Liver Detox Diet: The Definitive Detox Diet That Delivers Results, devised by Patrick Holford and Fiona McDonald Joyce. The book is available from Amazon, Positive Health Shop and The Book Depository.
