Craigie's Farm Shop and Cafe in Edinburgh offers good food that is as seasonal and as fresh as possible, fruit picking and also has a wealth of activities to entertain the family all year around.
John Sinclair farm at West Craigie with his wife, Kirsteen, their two children, Sophie and George and his mother, Anne not forgetting Corrie the Lab.
West Craigie is very much a family farm, but as they’ve grown, they’ve taken on more and more staff. They always try to make sure they share their values and understand the unique responsibility of running the farm.
They started growing fruit in the mid 80’s and in the early 90’s, converted a barn for more space to sell their own vegetables and ever-increasing range of jams.
If Craigie’s is about anything it is about enjoying good food that is as seasonal and as fresh as possible.
So, they’re passionate about the taste of produce that’s really fresh because it’s as local and seasonal as possible.
That’s as true for what’s served in their café as what you’ll find on the shop's shelves. Some comes direct from the farm, some from small suppliers and farmers a little further afield. Wherever it hails from, they think it’s important to know its origins.
And finally, in the cafe, they believe that good eating starts with the best ingredients, skillfully-prepared to make the very most of their freshness and big, bold flavours. Nothing too fancy: good, honest food, with a menu that changes with what’s freshest and in season.
"The way we see it, the simple pleasures in life almost always turn out to be the best." - John Sinclair
