The Full Story: 1994 ... In with the new

For Scottish football fans 1994 was one of the most dramatic years ever both on and off the park

  • The long-running and acrimonious battle for control of Celtic FC came to a head when Fergus McCann finally ousted the controlling families.

  • Bitter rivals Rangers cruised to their sixth consecutive Scottish League Title and were on course for an unprecedented back-to-back domestic treble. But they had their problems too. Star striker Duncan Ferguson was arrested and subsequently jailed for head-butting an opponent during a match with Raith Rovers.

  • Rovers would created history in 1994 when against all the odds they won the League Cup, beating a resurgent Celtic in a thrilling penalty shoot-out at Ibrox.

Extended exclusive interviews with Fergus McCann, David Low, Michael Kelly, Kevin Kelly, Jim McLean, Craig Brewster and Gordon Dalziel will be available here once the programme has been transmitted on STV on March 11th.
