Kelly Macdonald stars in this film about a young prostitute who strives to make a fresh start, but finds it hard to break free from her gritty life. Stella Does Tricks was directed by Coky Giedroyc, who also went on to make the movie Women Talking Dirty in 1999. Due to be transmitted on Monday, July 20, at 10.40pm.
What’s it all about?
Stella Does Tricks is a moving portrayal of young prostitute, Stella, who moves from London back to her hometown of Glasgow, in an attempt to make a fresh start in life.

Kelly Macdonald stars as Stella, whose difficult childhood in Glasgow unfolds via frequent flashbacks, along with her many youthful fantasies and daydreams of a different life.
Making the decision to escape her grim life in London, Stella sets out to face the members of her family who made her run away there in the first place.
But when her former pimp, Mr Peters, turns up, her hopes of a fresh start swiftly disappear.
Dealing with issues including drug abuse and the sordid world of prostitution, Stella Does Tricks is a moving, bittersweet film.
