Clare Grogan, who recently watched Comfort and Joy again for the first time since the premiere 25 years ago, tells STV what she thought.
“It’s great because there’s so much distance between it for me now that I can sit and watch it slightly objectively. And I honestly think I didn’t do too bad a job, she said.
In the movie, the Glasgow- born actress and singer played the Italian girl Charlotte which meant she had to learn a bit of Italian and speak with an accent.

“I was very nervous about working with Bill Paterson and Alex Norton because they were a bit older than me and very experienced. And I really didn’t want them to think that I was just some wee pop star who thought she could act so I concentrated hard on getting the Italian right.”
She also revealed to STV the main reason why she decided to take on the role of Charlotte.
“I think that for me the chance to play somebody who had broken away from her family, very close family ties and was kind of experimenting a bit with how men responded to her was interesting for me.”
She added: I think that people had seen me as this eternal school girl and I just wanted to be able to do something that was a bit more ‘sultry’.”
Playing in a movie about ice cream doesn’t sound too bad, but it did have its down-sides.
She explained: “We had to do so many takes of eating those ice cream fritters and at first it was all quite nice you know, but then you’re like, Take 23… noooo!”
“I clearly remember feeling quite ill.”
