Proof series 2 - episode three preview

Terry (Finbar Lynch) and Cora (Moya Farrelly) are badly shaken by the accident.   Tessa, meanwhile, tries to get on with her life. She clears up the debris of her burnt out shop and removes the racist graffiti from its front.

Maureen (Orla Brady)  follows up on the connection between Olivia (Kate O’Toole) and Rogan (Clive Geraghty). She goes to the Irish Medicine Board and finds out that Rogan was on the board of the government committee that passed drugs for Chemacran – perhaps Rogan is just giving her some information on government policy.

Recovered from the car crash, Terry and Cora go to Chemacran to see if they can find out what Plunkett (Jonathan Ryan) and Coleman (Nick Grennell) were working on together. When they get short shrift from an official, they sneak past security and manage to access a computer.  They’re caught by security before they can get away and brought to meet Sullivan, O’Farrell’s Head of Research and Development.   Terry and Cora go straight back to Frankie Devlin (Tony Flynn). When pushed, he admits that he took part in the trials for Seraban, but he had a bad reaction, suffering blackouts that led to him becoming violent. He tells them that Coleman was the one that paid him off. Cora is shocked.   Perhaps Coleman was about to leak this information – that could have got him killed.

Meanwhile, Tessa’s friend Lenny (Leon Stewart) is seized by Immigration Officers – his appeal was rejected and he is to be deported. Upset, Tessa then catches sight of Decky (Clide Delaney) and recognises him. Terrified she calls on Terry. Terry whisks her and Sisi away to safety, but not before he reports Decky to the police.

Maureen and Cora meet up in the newspaper office and Cora lets slip that she and Terry think there’s something fishy with the trials of Seraban. Maureen double checks her info and finds that Rogan was on the government committee at the time that Seraban was passed. She decides to talk to O’Farrell about what she’s found out.

Terry visits Jake in prison and Jake admits that he had been suffering from depression and was prescribed anti-depressants two months previously. Jake describes the fits that he’s been suffering and they echo Frankie’s description of his reaction to Seraban. Terry puts two and two together and asks Jake if he’s been taking Seraban. Jake nods.  Terry and Cora surmise that the five people who had the bad reaction to the drug in the clinical trial must have been left out of the official trial report – but to prove this they need to get their hands on that report. Terry tries to call Maureen to find out what she knows, but she’s on her way to O’Farrell’s (Conor Mullen) and won’t pick up the phone.

Terry gets terrible news about Jake and has to take the news to Tessa. She’s devastated and Terry can do little to console her.  Meanwhile, Maureen and O’Farrell are getting very cosy. He denies knowing anything about the fact that Rogan is a shareholder. Maureen is convinced and they kiss. Maureen agrees to stay the night.
