Joe McElderry emerged triumphant as the winner of ITV's Popstar to Operastar. The 20-year-old X-Factor star won the public vote over fellow finalist Cheryl Baker.
Joe revealed that he was driven to win in order to prove his music career "isn't over".
The X-Factor winner found fame when he won ITV pop competition in 2009 but was axed by Simon Cowell's record label Syco earlier this year.
McElderry admitted that being on the opera show was much "technically tougher" than singing for The X Factor.
However, he revealed that the judges Katherine Jenkins, Vanessa Mae, Rolano Villazon and Simon Callow, were not as harsh as Simon Cowell.
Joe recently hit the headlines when he confessed that he did not think that he would make it through to the finals. Given his highly rated performance on the final show, he clearly had nothing to worry about and emerged victorious, delivering a stunning performance of Nessun Dorma to conclude the current series of the hit show.
The young singer from Newcastle will now be relishing not just his success on Popstar to Operastar but the chance to show Simon Cowell what he is missing out on.
