In the final part of Julie Hannah’s style advice for work she revealed how your work day suit can double as evening wear and how you can avoid creasing your top when you sit at your desk all day.
For today’s outfit she chose a suit from Marks and Spencers with a gorgeous blue blouse from Oasis and had a top tip for when you’re choosing a suit jacket:
“Here’s a great way to introduce some trendy details into your work wear wardrobe,” she said. “[The jacket has] got this faux leather detail on the lapels and on the trousers and you could actually wear this jacket at night too, even over some skinny jeans with heels.”
The jacket is £45 and the trousers are £35.
Underneath the suit she had chosen a blue blouse from Oasis, costing £40. “First of all the colour is amazing,” she said. The blouse also had bell sleeves that made it not just stylish but also very trendy for work.
Another important feature of the blouse was its ruffled front: “For work you don’t want to wear anything too tight across the tummy area because if you’re sitting all day it’ll crease and it’ll start to look messy.
“Something really lightweight works well and this ruffled detail across the front just covers any bumps around your tummy area.”
The shoes she had chosen were just £12 from Primark and looked great with cropped trousers so are excellent for spring.
Finally she picked out a stylish but feminine laptop bag. “This laptop bag doesn’t have that masculine look that many of them have,” she said. “It’s made of super soft leather with gold hardware.” The bag costs £48.30 from Fiorelli at House of Fraser.
