It’s a new week which means a new start if any of you have fallen off the Get Fit band wagon in week one. Fitness guru Stella has got another exciting exercise to tone us up after Christmas turkey marathons and get the blood pumping on a Monday morning.
Today Stella is tackling the Box Flyover exercise which is sure to get your heart racing. If you’ve been cooped up all weekend this is a great way to get some exercise from the comfort of your own home.
For this exercise you will need a box shaped object to jump over, remember not to choose anything too tall to jump to avoid any accidents.
Be sure to warm up first then, making sure you have plenty of room, stand beside your box with your feet hip width apart to give you a firm base.
Make sure you are standing close to the box so you will clear it when you jump, you don’t want a twisted ankle to start the New Year.
When you are ready, bend your knees and jump over the box using your arms for balance and to give you more movement.
Jump back to the other side and keep alternating until you feel tired. Remember, you might only manage a few at first but these exercises can be built up slowly so that by the end of the month you will manage many more.
If you feel tired take a break; don’t over do it on the first attempt. And there you have it, the Box Flyover.
As well as doing a 5 min warm-up and cool down, why not add this to the rest of Stella’s exercises from last week and perform a longer more strenuous routine. If you don’t fancy doing them at the gym you can have a go in your own home.
You could try the Lunge Reach-over, the Superman Pointer, the Wood-chop reach and the Lunge Washing Machine Twist.
