Scottish celebs celebrate St Andrew’s Day

In exclusive video interviews a host of Scottish famous faces outline their plans for St Andrew’s Day, reveal their ideal celebration of Scotland’s patron saint and explain why they are proud to be Scottish.

Folk singer Julia Fowlis has had little chance to celebrate St Andrew’s Day as she normally performs on the night. But her ideal night would involve, singing, music, dancing “and certainly a glass of whisky”.

Musician John McCusker admitted his perfect St Andrew’s Day would be spent playing traditional Scottish music in a pub and having a few pints. McCusker has performed far and wide, but insists that no matter where he is in the world, he couldn’t be prouder to be Scottish.

Similarly Lorraine Kelly returned to Scotland from the Big Smoke after suffering homesickness. The Dundee lass said she misses her friends and family and the sense of humour and food of Scotland.

Kelly, who shares her birthday with St Andrew’s Day, wants the day to return to a national holiday so she can celebrate both days with huge cake.

Kaye Adams has even bigger plans. The TV presented said she would book comedian Billy Connolly for her ideal St Andrew’s Day bash which would be open to everyone.

Top Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti always looked forward to coming home to Scotland when studying in London and says St Andrew’s Day is another day to feel proud to be Scottish.

Homecoming Scotland are organising the biggest St Andrew’s Day Do with events taking place throughout Scotland. For more information visit STV’s Homecoming.
