While the financial downturn has been hitting peoples’ pockets all over the country, one woman is adamant the recession is providing many with an apt opportunity to change their life for the better.
Life coach Gillian Brown says that she has noticed a marked increase in the number of people coming to coaches to deal with problems stemming from the recent crises.
Brown told STV’s the five thirty show: “I think what’s happening at the moment, the increase in terms of why people coming to coaches, they’re maybe at a crossroads or they’re worried about their financial scenario or situation. Or even the affect that the credit crunch might have on their family and welfare of their relationships at home.”

The 36-year-old only came into her line of work after herself visiting a life coach. She had just given birth and was looking for a new direction following 12 years working in human resources. Brown is now at the helm of New-U Coaching, where she helps around 300 clients to deal with a variety of problems many of which she herself suffered.
Unsurprisingly the biggest problem she deals with is the credit crunch, for which she advises: “The tips there would be to establish what you’ve got, what you can spend and what you can’t spend and then try to really be creative.
“There’s loads of different ways in which you can enhance your life without spending a lot of money. Things like volunteering for example or even writing a list down on how you want to spend your life and what you want to get out of your life.”
