Adam wants to pay off the debts with Declan, and Moira tells him John  had an endowmen policy. Moira is later shocked and depressed to hear John had already cashed in the policy. They have nothing. Moira is close to despair over their money situation, and the kids are horrified when Moira tells them they're selling up.

Sandy is withdrawn and saddened by the manner in which Ashley speaks to him. Sandy is left alone when Ashley and Laurel head out with the kids. Ashley offers Rachel a job cleaning the house, Rachel is keen as it will help her financial worries, but she immediately picks up on hte tension between Ashley and Sandy. As Rachel attempts to clean the house Sandy tries to hide his frailty from her.

Later, Rachel hands Sandy a model boat kit to help occupy him. Rachel notices when Sandy winces in pain. Later, Laurel's unimpressed to return home to a mess created by Rachel and Sandy. Later, Sandy seethes when Ashley tells him he will ration his pension and give it to him in small installments.

Also:

- Katie is finding it irritating having Megan around especially when she and Declan are interrupted, so Megan can talk about the festival. Katie is frosty with Megan, while Declan is infuriated she won't make her mind up about accepting the job. Later, Declan is delighted when Megan finally accepts the position as festival manager.

- Paddy shows his insecurities when Rhona suggests using a new rep at the surgery, and gives Victoria a trial run as an assistant. Rhona wonders how she can please Paddy, who is still in a bad mood.

- Amy is worried about Val and is unconvince when Victoria tells her she'll come home.
