Moira is nervous about her date with John, but appreciates Marlon's kind support. She's taken aback when Chas offers to swap her day off so she can go away overnight with John.

John and Moira's nerves are clear as she arrives with her bag and Holly instructs John to go and pack. They're both shy and apprehensive as they head off for their night away, taking Andy's Landrover, so that Andy and Adam can use John's truck.

John pulls out a cassette tape of music that Moira gave him when they first got together. She's touched that he has kept it all these years, and they reminisce as they drive along. Suddenly, John hits a patch of ice on the road, and the car skids at high speed, crashing through an obstruction and landing on its side in the darkness.

Badly hurt, they are terrified to realise they are trapped inside the vehicle. John calmly insists to Moira they'll get out, but they're both scared as the car lurches forward and slips. Declan drives along with Katie and slams on the breaks after hitting the same patch of ice as John. He spots the tail lights where John and Moira have crashed, and sees the car has gone through the barrier.

Horrified, Katie calls the emergency services as she and Declan make their way to the Landrover. John desperately tries to free Moira, unaware that the car is teetering dangerously over the edge of the ravine. Declan and Katie struggle to free them both, but time runs out as the vehicle slips and plummets below. Do they make it out in time?

Aaron's intrigued by Ed as he hands him the money for the work on the minibus. He's unsure what to make of him as he invites him to a party that night after the rugby match. Chas cajoles Aaron into going out when she finds out about the invite.

Later, the crumpled Landrover is upside down at the bottom of the ravine as the emergency services arrive and set about cutting open the wreckage. The ambulance races to the hospital as Adam, Hannah and Holly are in the pub and receive a horrendous call from Katie, telling them about the accident. Aaron drives them to the hospital and utter devastation awaits them as the crash team and medics are forced to accept there's no hope.

Debbie's keen for Cameron to finish work so they can head home and make the most of having the place to themselves. At the Woolpack, Chas struggles to make conversation with Cain, but convinces him to stay a bit longer to leave Debbie and Cameron in peace. Diane's still concerned about the depth of Andy's feelings for Debbie.

At Tug Ghyll, Debbie's got changed and serves a romantic dinner, telling Cameron she loves him. Cameron's bitter when Andy charges in and interrupts their evening, killing the mood. Diane sees there's no getting through to him.

Also:

- Charity tries to persuade Declan to give her a job managing the festival, and Katie's amused by the competition between her and Nicola.

- Edna lauds Rhona for correctly diagnosing Tootsie, and Paddy is annoyed he didn't diagnose her correctly. Paddy feels second best to Rhona, though he's good humoured as he and Rhona bicker. He's humiliated however when a client chooses Rhona over him.
