Emmerdale star Charlie Hardwick has revealed that she wants her soap character to have a steamy lesbian affair.

The actress is currently taking a three month break from the show to star in a play, but she wants to see her character, Val Pollard, doing something outlandish when she returns to the village.

Speaking to Inside Soap magazine she revealed: “Wouldn’t it be good if Val had a one night stand with a woman? That’d definitely put the cat amongst the pigeons!”

Val and Pollard’s relationship has hit the rocks in recent weeks, with Val leaving the village and heading to Portugal to escape from her husband, but Charlie doesn’t want to see the pair split up.

She explained: “It may be good for the storyline, and more dramatic, but on a personal level I’d be gutted if they split!

“I love acting with Chris Chittel, so I’d really hate to see someone else working with him.

“I’ve seen Brenda sniffing round Pollard, so she’d better not try getting her claws into him while Val’s away, or I’ll be flaming furious!”

Charlie can currently be seen starring in play The Awkward Squad.
