Dancing on Ice star Matthew Wolfenden will be all white on the night

There’s not much sunshine in the Yorkshire Dales at this time of year, so it would look a little odd if Matthew Wolfenden’s Emmerdale character, David Metclafe, was sporting a bronzed glow in the Woolpack.

As a result, the handsome star has apparently been told to tone down the spray tans for Dancing on Ice.

A source told the Daily Star: "It would look really odd if one day he's walking through the village with a tan in the middle of winter."

According to reports, Matthew now opts for a wash-off style tan – let’s hope he doesn’t sweat on the ice!

31 year old Matthew is one of the favourites to win this year’s DOI, after wowing the judges with his incredible skating skills.

When he was younger, Matthew was a keen gymnast and dancer and his training shines through on the show.

He was top of the leader board after his first skate and last week scored an impressive 23 points, despite battling an injury and only managing a few hours of rehearsals in the run up to pop week.

Hollyaoks actress Jorgie Porter topped the leaderboard last Sunday with 24 points, but the battle is on between the soap stars, as Matthew is determined to get back on top.

Despite their on-ice rivalry, Matthew and Jorgie have become great friends, with Jorgie’s pro ice partner Matt Evers saying: “Matthew and Jorgie right now are building a really nice friendship, because they were at the top of the show leader-boards and they were talking the other day and they were like 'well how was it for you' and 'this is what I did and this is how I felt' and it’s really nice. They’re building some great camaraderie.”
