Celebrities head 71 Degrees North

Forget Dancing on Ice. Ten celebrities will be skating on thin ice when they take part in brand new show, 71 Degrees North.

Joe Absolom, Susie Amy, Andrew Castle, Diarmuid Gavin, Gavin Henson, Konnie Huq, Michelle Mone, Marcus Patrick, Shane Richie and Lauren Socha are heading for the icy glaciers of Norway to enjoy spectacular experiences, face pure danger and witness breathtaking scenery.

Culminating inside the Arctic Circle, this eight part adventure sees the stars fighting their way to the most northern part of mainland Europe.  Along the way, tempers will rise and temperatures will plummet.  Getting there will require every ounce of strength they have.

Turning up the heat will be show presenters Kate Thornton and Gethin Jones.

So what's it all about?

Each week, the celebrities will be split into two teams and given strict instructions for a terrifying challenge.  The two team leaders must select their teams in school playground fashion… who will be picked last?

The challenges will test the teams to the limit and see them bonding for survival.  They include; mountain trekking, reindeer herding, snow cave building, a ravine crossing, sleeping in tents attached to the sheer vertical drop of a cliff face and crossing vast expanses of snowy landscape on dog sleigh.  Each week, the team who win the challenge will be rewarded with a luxury night in a log cabin.  The losers will spend yet another night out in sub-zero temperatures, in a freezing tent, on basic rations - brrrrrrrr!

The celebrities will need to cast their votes and decide who they think should be leaving that week.  One by one, the celebrities with the most votes must leave the group and return to the UK.

Who will conquer their fears and survive the longest in the treacherous, yet spectacular conditions? Grab a cup of tea, snuggle up on your sofa and find out.
