Last night, Ray Quinn was crowned Dancing on Ice Champion, 2009.
A deserved winner, Ray had shone from the start of the competition, and was often referred to as the best contestant to ever appear on the show.
In last night’s final, Jessica Taylor was the first celebrity voted off, leaving Ray and Donal MacIntyre to battle it out in the Bolero.

Undercover reporter Donal had a fantastic journey throughout the show, and impressed the judges with his dedication and week on week improvement, but it wasn’t enough to beat Ray.
We caught up the delighted champ backstage and he told us: “Champion! I’m so happy I can’t even tell you!”
Clearly on top of the world after his win, Ray added: “We’ve worked so hard and put the hours in. I’ve loved every minute of it, to walk away with this is just the cherry on top.”
As the favourite to win, was he sure he had done enough to beat Donal? What was going through his mind when Phillip Schofield was about to announce the winner? Ray told us: “That silence felt like a lifetime… I felt more sick then than I did when I was flying. Then when he said my name and Marias name – words can’t even describe how I felt at that present moment in time.”
In a touching moment he said: “I was really in the zone and had a picture of this on me the whole time and it’s a picture of my nan.”
After the Dancing on Ice tour will Ray be hangins up his skates? Not likely, he told us: “I am without a doubt going to keep skating, I’ve got the bug.”
He seemed to have the perfect partnership with Maria Filippov and added: “Maria in a partner is really fantastic and I hope after the tour we can meet up.”
Congratulations Ray!
