Coronation Streetstar Nikki Patel is waving goodbye to the cobbles.

The 21-year-old actress, who plays Amber Kalirai in the soap, has already filmed her final scenes, which will see her character leaving after a series of blazing rows with her stepmum Sunita Alahan.

A source told The People: “Nikki’s part in the love triangle was a huge success, but the producers feel that the character has run her course.

“Nikki is a professional and she understands, although of course she is disappointed.”

Amber first appeared in the show in 2005 and left in 2009. She returned in July 2011, and her most recent storylines have involved a lesbian love triangle between herself, Sophie Webster and Sian Powers, which resulted in Sophie and Sian breaking up and Sian leaving the street.

The door has been left open for Nikki, who may return to the cobbles in the future.
