Emeli Sandé has revealed that she was nervous to perform in front of Madonna.

The Scottish R&B singer player new latest single Next To Me on The Graham Norton Show last week when Madonna was a guest.

Sandé told Capital FM: "I met Madonna yesterday, I sang in front of her - it was a very nerve-wracking experience.

"But it was fantastic. It's been a crazy year so far and we're only 11 days in."

The 23-year-old star recently the Brits Critics' Choice Award ahead of the release of her debut album Our Version Of Events on February 13.

Emeli revealed that Alicia Keys offered her congratulations after her Brit Award victory.

She said the [i]No One[i/] singer has been in touch with her since the win.
 
"I emailed her when I found out, because she' been a great source of inspiration and given me a lot of advice," Emeli told the Daily Star.

"She congratulated me and said how exciting it was."
