Amidst rumours that Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell could be ditching the UK X Factor for the US version of the show, TV Biz conducted a poll to find out who fans would like to see replace the judges.

The result? Take That’s Gary Barlow is a popular man.

A fifth of X watchers polled said they wanted Mr. Barlow to join Dannii and Louis on the judging panel.

Gary certainly has all the credentials and was a popular guest mentor when he appeared on the show in 2008. Remember? He took a shine to Diana Vickers.

Fresh from their performance at last night’s BRITs, where they won best British Group, Gary’s Take That bandmate Robbie Williams also appeared in the poll, lagging slightly behind as fourth favourite to replace Simon and Cheryl.

Sharon Osbourne was second favourite with 18 per cent of the vote (Dannii screams “noooooo”) while Nicole Scherzinger was third with 16 per cent (Cheryl screams “nooooo”)!
