It's the BRITs 2009 and you would expect the stars to be fighting it out to get as much of the limelight as they can. But we discovered no such thing - in fact, they all love each other and want to work together. Very disappointing.
Mega mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins was full of love for the evening’s host Kylie Minogue. “I love Kylie,” she confessed. “I listen to her whenever I get ready to go on stage. No matter where I am, in the opera house or wherever, I listen to Kylie’s greatest hits.”
The BRITs are famous for unusual collaborations between the artists. When asked who she would like to collaborate with, Katherine chose her compatriot Tom Jones. “I was very lucky that I got to perform with Tom on his 60th birthday,” she told us. “We did a concert where I came on and sang to him, so I feel very lucky to have done that and if I ever get to sing a duet with him, that will be a bonus.”

Tom Jones, who was at the bash to present the award for Best British Album, selected star of the night’s proceedings, Duffy as his preferred collaborator. “Hopefully I’ll have chance to speak to Duffy and see if maybe we could do a song together. I think that would be good,” he told us on the red carpet. Tom was also looking forward to seeing the Pet Shop Boys perform at the show and was glad they were receiving a lifetime achievement award, “I think they well deserve it because they’ve made some great records.”
James Morrison, who was up for a Best British Male gong was singing the praises of Adele. “I just did a tour with Adele and she’s got an amazing voice live. It’s really impressive compared to her records.” Could there be a possible future collaboration on the cards? “She just comes alive when you hear her, so I’d love to do something with Adele.” Now, that would be some record.
Global megastar Lionel Richie admitted that he was a huge fan of Coldplay, and soon-to-be-global star Alexandra Burke said, “I’d love to get on that stage with Tina Turner. That would be an amazing thing for me.” Alex famously duetted with Beyonce on The X Factor, so was that not the ultimate collaboration for her? “I’m gonna do Beyonce again and again and again, but Tina Turner would be a dream come true.”
